Since Tom Bailey & Julie Day were elected in 2024 we’ve delivered a big expansion in tree planting in our ward on sites like Beach Road and the Marden Estate.
Trees are obviously great for the environment but can also have other benefits. Once they get big enough they’ve been shown to reduce the speed of motor traffic by changing the perceived street width and sending a message to people passing through that this is a neighbourhood, not just a thoroughfare.
If you’ve got ideas for tree planting sites you can send them to us or alternatively put them in direct to the council online here.
Most trees planted in North Tyneside come from something called The North East Community Forest, so don’t actually cost us anything out of our local budgets.
